Surprise, Surprise
Extravagant Ellie and Thrifty Tanya each have bank accounts. Ellie has $500 and Tanya has $200.  Ellie withdraws $15 each weekend while Tanya deposits $12. At the end of 13 weeks, what is the difference in their bank accounts? Solve this algebraically. Can you find a week when there is only a $3 difference? Hint: It is before the 13th week.

    Ellie 500 15x13=195 500-195=305 Ellie finished with $305
    Tanya 200 12x13=156 156+200=356 Tanya finished with $356
    Ellie 500 15x11=165 500-165= 335
    Tanya 200 12x11=132 132+200=332
    so the 11th week the difference is 3
